Information on KiwiSaver for New Zealand Sidekicks, including what it is, how to update your contribution, and when will it be paid

Updated over a week ago

KiwiSaver is a voluntary savings and investment scheme for workers in New Zealand to help them save money for retirement.

If you are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, then you are eligible to make contributions. To check your KiwiSaver contributions, you can log in to your myIR account via the Inland Revenue website.

Note: You are not able to join KiwiSaver if you are a temporary resident, visitor or student visa holder.

How do I know if I am making KiwiSaver contributions?

Upon registering with Sidekicker, you would have been asked if you would like to make KiwiSaver contributions. If you are eligible, and you selected yes, you would have completed a KiwiSaver Deduction Form. If you selected no, you would have completed a KiwiSaver Opt-out Form.

To check which selection you made:

  • Click here to log in to Sidekicker and access your Tax Details.

  • Refer to the section on KiwiSaver contributions (pictured below)

Can I update my contribution amount?

Of course! You can make changes to your KiwiSaver contribution at any time by updating your Employment Details on Sidekicker.

How much does Sidekicker contribute to my KiwiSaver?

Sidekicker matches your contributions up to 3%. Whether you opt to contribute 3% or 10%, Sidekicker will contribute 3%.

When will my KiwiSaver be paid?

Your KiwiSaver contribution is paid on the 20th of the following month. For example; if you get paid on 1st September, your KiwiSaver contribution will be paid on 20th October.

Please note it may take up to one month for contributions to reflect on your myIR account, but you can keep track of your contributions on your payslips from Sidekicker.
