Information on the different job types available on Sidekicker

Updated over a week ago

Whether you are looking to work one-off shifts, commit to a month-long assignment, or express your interest in accessing ongoing work with a particular business - Sidekicker has you covered!

Businesses have the ability to make requests on the Sidekicker platform in the form of set shifts, fixed-term jobs and opportunities. This article explains how each job type differs from one another, and how to identify them on your 'Open' jobs dashboard.

What are Set-shifts?

Set-shifts are the most common type of job found on Sidekicker - they are one-off requests which usually require staff for one day only.

How do I know if a job is a set shift?

Set shifts display the shift start and end times, as well as the estimated total earnings.

When do I submit my timesheet for a set shift?

After working a set shift, you should submit your timesheet within 24 hours.

What are Fixed-term jobs?

Fixed-term jobs are made up of multiple shifts over a fixed period of time - it could be a two-week commitment or ongoing for a few months.

How do I know if a job is a fixed-term job?

Fixed-term jobs display the start and end dates, as well as the hourly rate. For specific details relating to the days and hours required, you will need to click into the job.

When do I submit my timesheet for a fixed-term job?

You can log your hours after every shift you work, however, you should only submit your timesheet after working your last shift for the week.
For example, if you work on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday for one week, you can save each day's hours, but you should only submit your timesheet after working your Saturday shift. If you submit your timesheet on Monday, you will not have a timesheet available to record your hours worked on Tuesday and Saturday.

Once the business approves your timesheet, they will continue the job for the following week so that you have a new timesheet available.

If you are working a fixed-term job and are either missing a timesheet or have submitted your timesheet prematurely, please get in touch with our team via the blue chat bubble on Sidekicker so we can help fix this up!

It's also important to note that you will not be paid until after the final date of the job. If your fixed-term job is set up for the 1st until the 14th, it will not be processed until the week after the 14th.

Sidekicker works with clients to ensure workers can be paid promptly, and it's best that jobs are posted for a maximum of 1-2 weeks. If your job goes on for several weeks or more, please reach out so we can take a look for you.

What are Opportunities?

Opportunities allow you to access exclusive jobs with a business in the future. If your application for an opportunity is successful, you will be added to a private pool of Sidekicks which allows the business to post jobs exclusively to you and any other Sidekicks added to that pool. You will then be able to apply for these jobs as normal, whether they are set shifts or fixed-term jobs.

How do I know if a job is an Opportunity?

Opportunities display the anticipated start and end dates, and will not display estimated earnings or the hourly rate. For more details about the potential role, including start date, estimated duration, pay rate and the general location, you will need to click on the opportunity.

When do I submit my timesheet for an opportunity?

This will depend on the type of jobs which eventuate from the opportunity (e.g. set-shifts or fixed-term jobs).

For more information relating to opportunities and how they work, please refer to this article.
