The New and Breakout filters help you find companies with recent or unusually strong activity in Signals.
Both filters are available for these time windows:
1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y, and MAX
Breakout
The Breakout filter identifies companies with significant growth in Observed Customers in either the Enterprise or Mid-Market panel.
A company is considered a breakout when it meets all of these conditions:
Observed customer growth is high enough for the selected time window
At least 60% of the months in the window had positive month-over-month growth
Observed customer counts meet the minimum level at both the start and end of the window
How Breakout growth is calculated
Signals estimates the company’s observed customer count at the start of the selected window:
historical value = current value − absolute change
Then it calculates the growth rate:
growth rate = (current value − historical value) / max(historical value, 5) × 100
The max(historical value, 5) denominator prevents very small starting counts from creating exaggerated growth rates.
Breakout thresholds
For Observed Customers, the minimum count is 10 at both the start and end of the selected window.
Window | Required Growth |
1M | 25% |
3M | 25% |
6M | 40% |
1Y | 60% |
MAX | 60% |
A company matches the Breakout filter if it qualifies in either the Enterprise or Mid-Market panel for the selected window.
New
The New filter identifies companies whose observed spend appears only within the selected time window.
This filter is based on spend history, not observed customer counts.
How New is calculated
For each panel, Signals compares the company’s total observed spend across all available history with its observed spend inside the selected window:
total spend = sum of observed spend across all periods
window spend = sum of observed spend within the selected window
A company is considered New when:
window spend > 0
and:
window spend = total spend
In plain terms, the company has observed spend during the selected window and no observed spend before that window.
A company must qualify as New in both Enterprise and Mid-Market data to be flagged as New overall. If a company only appears in one panel, it may not qualify because the other panel does not have enough data to confirm the same condition.
MAX window
For the MAX window, the selected window covers the company’s full available history. As a result, any company with positive observed spend can qualify as New for MAX.
Using New and Breakout together
You can apply New and Breakout at the same time.
When both filters are active, a company must satisfy both conditions to appear in results.
