Why use “Print to PDF”?

Sometimes, a PDF can’t be successfully signed because it’s corrupted or not compliant with our PDF requirements. Printing the document to a new PDF file creates a clean, compatible version of your document — removing hidden elements, security restrictions, or formatting errors.

The process doesn’t require a physical printer — your computer creates a brand-new PDF instead.

Windows: Use “Microsoft Print to PDF”

  1. Open your file (Word, PDF, or another format) on your computer.

  2. Press Ctrl + P or go to File → Print.

  3. In the printer list, select Microsoft Print to PDF.

  4. Click Print.

  5. Choose where to save the new file and give it a clear name (for example, “Document_fixed.pdf”).

Your new file will now be created as a fully compatible PDF.

Tip: Every modern version of Windows includes the Microsoft Print to PDF printer by default. If you can’t find it, you may enable it under Windows Features → Turn Windows features on or off → Microsoft Print to PDF.

macOS: Use “Save as PDF”

  1. Open your file in Preview or another application.

  2. Press Command + P or go to File → Print.

  3. In the Print dialog, open the PDF dropdown in the bottom left.

  4. Choose Save as PDF.

  5. Choose a save location and click Save.

This creates a new, flattened PDF that works reliably across different systems and signing tools.

Why this helps

  • Removes non-standard fonts, forms, and layers that may cause validation errors.

  • Ensures embedded certificates, watermarks, or encryption issues are stripped away.

Summary

If your PDF can’t be uploaded to our platform, use the Print to PDF method to re-create a fresh, valid file. It’s a simple one-time step that eliminates most file compatibility problems.
