When you first log in to the Similar.ai platform as an enterprise customer, you'll see your category recommendation table. This screen will help you pick your best categories for which to create new category pages.
Step 1. How to create a category page
Once you have found a category to focus on, click on it. You'll see an auto-generated category page preview with your matching products as well as text templates selected by us.
You can choose to edit the product selection or the text content.
Every matching product is selected by default, but you can deselect any product you'd like. For instance, if you are creating a page for maxi dresses intended for summer, you may want to exclude woollen maxi dresses from the selection.
Step 2. How to edit category content
Welcome to your content editor screen 🎉
Every field is entirely customisable, which will be extremely helpful for both SEO purposes and brand voice requirements.
That being said, it can be a little daunting to come up with a great (meta-) description which ticks all the boxes.
We've got you covered.
See the "Could you use a little inspiration" nudge underneath the description box? Click it. A magic box will open, giving you suggestions based on your product to use as templates for your own description.
There are 3 types of suggestions you will find here:
- A summary of the common features of your products in this category. These small snippets work best when your category includes a few different items.
- A selection of how other pages which rank for this category describe their own pages.
- A list of very similar categories. Sometimes it makes sense to include lots of related categories in a single page, so that it is a good match for other, less sought-for categories.
Each template is clickable, so that it gets pasted automatically into your own description box. Still, it is up to you to tailor it to your exact category page content.
Don't forget to use your category name in the description (it's kind of the point). You can also paste your (now personalised) description into your meta description box:
As you can see above, the description text is too long for the meta description requirements (max 170 characters). Time to adjust.
Now that you've done all this work on SEO content, you may wonder... what would this look like as an ad?
Again, we've got you covered.
Step 3: ad previews
We have two paid advertising previews set up:
- Adwords, to appear on Google Search Engine Results Pages
- Facebook, to appear on users' timelines
This will help you visualise your category page content as a simple and effective way to direct some of your marketing efforts. It could look something like this:
Step 4: set your category page live
Just click 'Save and approve'.
If you are using our Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Shopify integration, your category page will go live straight away—although it can take the eCommerce platform a few minutes to get everything ready.
