The answer to this question does vary, not least because some SIMTICS modules cover more content, or are more complex to learn - for example, the medical imaging modules tend to be larger and more complex than the modules that cover dental assisting or medical assisting skills.
However, as a general rule of thumb we usually say around 2-3 hrs total focused study time per module. This assumes the learner takes advantage all of the resources provided in the module, for instance:
watching the video demonstration at least twice (initial view + review)
reading through the written text that explains the procedure, and accessing embedded information including pre-procedure considerations, images, pop-ups, key terms, important hyperlinked references, etc.
reviewing the anatomy component - all layers, plus structure descriptions and 3D model(s)
completing all simulation scenarios in Learn Mode (usually 3 per module) at least twice
completing simulations in Practice Mode, and at least one Test Mode simulation scenario;
completing the quiz two or three times - the quiz varies each time a learner starts one, with 25 questions randomly selected from a larger question bank, presented in a random order, and the answers/distractors are shuffled for each attempt. Therefore a quiz can be taken multiple times without straight repetition.
Note: The medical imaging modules often have more than one quiz.
Based on the above, the total study time might look something like this:
Text : 45-60 mins
Video: 15-20 mins
Anatomy: 10-15 mins
Learn Mode Simulations: 20-40 mins
Practice and Test Mode Simulation(s): 15-20 mins
Quiz: 15-20 mins
As a final note, it's worth bearing in mind that the actual study time required will also depend on the learner's prior knowledge, language skills, personal pace of learning, and so on.
