All of your active time in a module is recorded in your logbook. This includes reading the text, watching the video, interacting with the anatomy, doing a simulation, and answering a quiz.

Because the system logs your time, we don't want to log any time when you are not actually working in a module. Therefore, after 15 minutes of inactivity, your session will be flagged to expire. If you do not respond at that time, your session will be ended and you will need to log in again.

So: if you need to leave your SIMTICS session for a while, it's best to log out at that point and log in again when you are ready.
