What's in the text and how do I use it the best way?

The text in each SIMTICS module covers everything you need to know about the procedure or skill that the module covers.

At the top you'll find the Learning Objectives for the module, as well as a link to the Key Terms related to the procedure, so that's like a mini medical dictionary for the module. The key terms are also hyperlinked where they appear in the text, so you can look them up as you read through. There's also a link to Pre-procedure Considerations, which covers things like the equipment required, indications, contraindications and possible complications.

The main part of the text explains the procedure step by step. The text is like any other text on a website, so you can scroll normally and you can use your browser's "Find" or "Find on page" function to find a word or phrase. Click on a thumbnail image to see a larger version of the picture.

You'll find hyperlinks throughout the text. Some of these are definitions of key terms, and others are links to important external websites. Make sure to check those, since there may be one or two quiz questions related to those sites.

The text is synced to the video section by section. So, for instance, if you're reading the text, you've reached step 3 and want to see how that step should be done, click on the video and it will start playing for you at step 3.

If English is not your first language and your web browser has a translation option, you can translate the text in a module, and certain other parts such as the menus. (Translation doesn't work for text that's embedded in an image or in simulations, however.) Check out this article for more information about translating the text.
