šŸ’» Online account and trading account - what's the difference?

Creating your SIX account has two steps. When you sign up and provide your contact details, your online account login will be ready to use straight away - so you can browse the app, read ethical profiles, and more.

You'll still need to verify your ID before your trading account becomes active. You won't be able to make trades or participate in our shareholder activist campaigns until you've successfully finished the verification process.

If you have trouble at any step, you can always reach out to our team for assistance.

Keep reading for everything you need to know - we've covered the most common questions, and included some tips to help you avoid the most common mistakes.

🪪 What kind of ID do I need?

We usually need at least one form of (valid, unexpired) government-issued ID - like a driver’s licence, Medicare card, or passport.

Don’t have the right documents, or having trouble? Please reach out to our team at info@six-invest.com.au and we'll help you find a solution!

ā“ I need to check my details - can I come back to finish setting up my account?

Absolutely! If you don’t finish verifying your ID, we’ll email you a link you can use to resume the process. Your online account is already set up, so you can also resume verification the next time you log in.

šŸ”„ I made a mistake - can I start over?

You can go back to the beginning of the verification process if you’ve accidentally entered the wrong information. You can resume your application by clicking on the link we’ll send you via email, or simply by logging back in.

If you can't edit your information or go back to the beginning, log out and clear your cache - then refresh your browser and log back in.

āļø Some tips to keep in mind

  • You’ll need to provide your full legal name as your account name.

  • For the verification stage, please make sure to enter your name exactly as it appears on each form of ID. For example, Medicare cards usually show your middle initial instead of a full middle name.

  • Your card number and driver’s licence number may be listed on the front or back of your card.

  • Make sure your document hasn’t expired.

We may request a copy of your ID(s) to help us verify your identity - you can send these to us via email, or directly through the SIX app’s chat function.

šŸ—„ļø Privacy info

All information you provide to us will be handled in line with SIX’s Privacy Policy. We only collect information necessary to provide services to you.

When setting up your SIX account, the information you provide will be checked against third-party records by FrankieOne (for individual accounts) or SwiftID (for SMSF and Trust accounts) in accordance with their privacy policies, available here and here.

These checks are performed to verify your identity and satisfy the relevant anti-money laundering legislative requirements under the AML/CTF Act (2006). If you do not wish to have your information shared with third parties for verification, we may not be able to open a trading account for you.
