The Ocean Tracking Performance and Analytics module provides a powerful, high-level lens into your global shipping operations. By aggregating transport data across your entire network, this module empowers Shippers and Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) to move from tracking individual containers to analyzing systemic performance and data reliability.

Introduction to Ocean Analytics

Ocean Analytics is your central hub for operational health. It transforms raw milestone data into actionable intelligence, allowing you to evaluate carrier performance, identify visibility gaps, and ensure that your end-to-end transport milestones are being captured accurately.

1. Performance Summary

The Performance Summary section provides a real-time snapshot of your shipment volume and execution status. It allows you to quickly assess the distribution of your transport inventory.

  • Completed: The total count and percentage of shipments that have reached their final destination milestones.

  • In Transit: The total count and percentage of shipments currently moving through the various stages of the sea or land leg.

2. Milestone Completeness

The Milestone Completeness section is the primary tool for auditing your visibility health. It measures the reliability of the data received from carriers for every step of the journey.

This chart displays all possible transport milestones—from the initial Empty Gate Out at the origin to the final Empty Gate In at the destination—and calculates the percentage of shipments for which these specific timestamps were successfully captured.

How is Completeness Calculated?

The percentage shown for each milestone is calculated based on the total count of Completed shipments within your filtered view.

  • Example: If you have 100 completed shipments and 95 of them received a "Departure from POL" timestamp, your completeness for that milestone is 95%.

Why This Matters:

  • Carrier Accountability: Identify which carriers are consistently failing to provide critical milestones like "Vessel Arrival" or "Container Discharge."

  • Operational Readiness: High completeness in "Gate Out" and "Arrival" milestones is essential for accurate Demurrage and Detention (D&D) cost calculations.

3. Filtering and Customization

To ensure you are viewing the data most relevant to your business unit or specific trade lanes, the Ocean Analytics dashboard utilizes two primary filters:

  • Ocean Carrier: Filter by specific shipping lines to compare data quality and performance across your carrier mix.

  • Start Time: Select specific date ranges to analyze historical performance or monitor recent improvements in visibility.

The Road Ahead

We are continuously evolving our analytics capabilities. To provide even deeper granular insights, we will be introducing additional filters and metrics in the future, allowing you to slice your performance data by various new dimensions.
