What a Company Group is
A Company Group links several Visibility accounts that belong to the same organisation, for example one account per branch or subsidiary, so that they share one Carrier Network. One account is the main account, usually the main legal entity, and the other accounts are linked to it. An account can only belong to one Company Group.
Once accounts are linked, a carrier that joins the network through any of them appears in all of them. The organisation maintains its carrier relationships once instead of repeating the work on every account.
Company Groups are currently available for carrier accounts only. They are set up by our Support team at the request of the organisation's admins or management; they are not self-service. They are different from carrier groups, which organise carriers inside a single account.
What is shared and what stays separate
Shared across linked accounts:
Carriers
Stays separate on each account:
Customers (shippers)
Pending invitations
Relation identifiers (lookup code)
Vehicles, integrations and users
Linked accounts are not each other's carriers and do not appear in each other's Carrier Network.
How a Company Group works
Inviting. Carriers are invited from any linked account in the Visibility Control Center, as before.
Sharing. When a carrier accepts an invitation, it is added to every linked account.
Pending invitations. These stay on the account that sent them. If two accounts invite the same carrier, the carrier receives two emails and both stay pending until each account withdraws its own. We recommend agreeing which account invites new carriers.
Lookup codes. Each account keeps its own, so the same carrier can have a different code on each account.
Archiving. Archiving a carrier affects only the account where it is archived.
What carriers see
Invitation and reminder emails show the company name followed by "(and its associates)". They do not list every account in the group.
In the Visibility Control Center, carriers see the linked accounts as customers. Carriers can choose to opt out.
Before you request a Company Group
Linking accounts is a decision for the organisation, not for individual users. By requesting a Company Group, the organisation agrees that:
The Carrier Networks of all linked accounts are shared with each other.
Shared carriers receive the same data-sharing consent as if each account had added them itself.
Removing an account from the group later does not take back what was already shared.
What Support needs
The accounts to link, and which one is the main account, meaning the account the others are linked to.
Confirmation that the accounts belong to the same organisation.
What the organisation should do internally
Tell the users of every linked account that the group exists. They are not notified in the product.
Agree which account invites new carriers, to avoid duplicate invitations.
To request a Company Group, contact Support.
Changing or ending a Company Group
Only the organisation's admins or management can ask for a change. Contact Support to add an account, remove an account, or remove a carrier from all linked accounts.
Removing an account. The account stops receiving new carriers from the group, and carriers it adds afterwards are no longer shared. Carriers already shared stay where they are. Users of the affected account are not notified, so the organisation should tell them.
Removing a carrier. A carrier removed through Support is removed from every linked account. If only one account should stop working with a carrier, tell Support so they can advise.
Ending the group. A Company Group ends when the last link to the main account is removed. Every account keeps the carriers it already has. Nothing is deleted, and nothing is shared from then on.
Current limitations
Users are not notified in the product when their account is linked to or removed from a group.
The Visibility Control Center does not show which accounts are linked, or which account a carrier originally came from. Support can look this up.
Frequently asked questions
Who can request a Company Group?
Only the organisation's admins or management, through Support. Individual users cannot set up or join a group themselves.
How can the organisation check which accounts are linked?
Contact Support. This is not visible in the Visibility Control Center at the moment.
Why is a carrier's relation identifier (lookup code) different on another linked account?
Relation identifiers are specific to each account and are not copied. The code needs to be set on each account.
Why does a carrier show as pending on one account but connected on another?
Pending invitations stay on the account that sent them. Withdraw the invitation on that account if the carrier is already connected.
Why is an expected carrier missing on an account?
Check that the carrier has accepted an invitation, because a pending invitation is not shared. If the carrier still does not appear, contact Support with the account names and the carrier's name.
