If you’re experiencing performance issues on devices with limited memory or processing power, adjusting the settings for 3D Tiles and Point Clouds can help improve responsiveness.
Note: These settings are saved locally on your device.
Viewer Settings
In the Viewer Settings, you can customise the Tile Memory Budget and Point Budget to manage memory usage for all 3D Tiles and Point Clouds in your project.
Tile Memory Budget: This setting determines the maximum memory in megabytes each 3D Tiles layer can use in the viewer.
Point Budget: This setting controls the maximum number of points that each Point Cloud layer can render in the viewer.
To access the Viewer Settings, open the project in the viewer and click the "Viewer Settings" button located in the top right corner.
In addition, you can fine-tune:
Refinement Quality for individual 3D Tiles.
Point Density for individual Point Clouds.
However, these adjustments are still constrained by the overall Tile and Point Budgets you set for the entire project.
Adjusting 3D Tiles Refinement Quality
For 3D Tiles, lowering the Refinement Quality can help reduce memory usage and improve performance, especially on less powerful devices. Here's how to adjust it:
Click the gear icon ⚙️.
Switch to the Tileset tab.
Use the scrollbar to adjust the Refinement Quality. A lower setting reduces detail, freeing up memory and speeding up performance.
Adjusting Point Cloud Density
To improve performance when rendering Point Clouds, you can decrease the Point Density, which reduces the number of points displayed while conserving memory.
Click the gear icon ⚙️.
Switch to the Point Cloud tab.
Use the scrollbar to lower the Point Density. Lower densities will reduce visual detail but improve performance on devices with limited resources.
