Summary
This KB Article describes, in brief, the generative floor plan layout functions and capabilities.
This KB Article includes the following:
Generating a Layout
Before you create a generative floor layout there are a few elements you need to have created.
You need to have circulation modeled within the floor plate. Tip: It is recommended to model out your egress points as well so you can optimize the open floorspace you know you have available.
You also need to have SPACE (not a unit) modeled where you want your layout to be generated. Select the Space icon on the tool bar to simply model out the desired space.
You can draw the space massing into the open floor space.
Once you have your entire floor filled with your desired space, you can begin to generate layouts.
To create a layout, select one of the space you modeled and select the 'ADD' button on the lower right side of your screen.
To generate the layout-in this case Residential-select the 'Add Catalog' button. Select the catalog you want to use in your layout.
Once you choose the desired catalog, hit the 'Select' button and select the modeled circulation space on your floor. Notice your layout generate once you do this.
To alter the unit mix, select the generated layout and hit the edit button on the right side of the screen. You will notice all units in the catalog are evenly distributed in the initial generation.
Alter the unit mix accordingly. The total percentage must equal 100%. A layout will not generate if the mix is over or under. Once your mix is accurate, select the distribute button on the right side of your screen and notice the new generation.
Once the layouts are generated, you can simply select the 'Release Units' button on the right side of the screen to select the individual units in the generated layout.
Repeat this process for all other spaces to generate layouts for the entire floor.
Generative Parking Layout
To create a generative parking layout, you will follow the same steps you did for a generative unit layout. You must select the desired floor of the layout and you must have a space created where you want the layout to be generated.
This time when you add a layout to the space select the parking tab in the auto layout settings.
Once you select the parking tab, a generative layout will appear in the modeled space.
To edit the stall mix and other parking settings, select the space and hit the edit button on the right side of the screen.
Once you input the updated settings, the generative layout will update after you hit 'Enter".
If you want to extend the parking space any direction, drag the massing to alter the size, and the stall mix will generate to the new space.
