Summary

This section describes how to edit a space use categorization and how to create a new one. These are used for categorizing and classifying spaces within a project.

This KB Article includes the following:

Editing a Space Use Category

When you create a massing in Skema, you can classify the space's function. This is important when you get into mixed use projects and floor layouts with different programmatic elements. To apply space use category, select the drop down arrow under the Space Use tab on the right side of the screen.

To edit a selected space use category, select the edit icon under the applied space use categorization

When you hit the edit button a window will appear showing options to change the name, color, and area type.

When you are done making your edits, hit SAVE before you exit, and your changes will appear to any space you assign the space use to later in the project.

These space classifications will be categories for your metrics. In real time, your area metrics for each of the applied spaces will be tracked in Skema.

You can assign space to a whole Building

Blocks

Floors

Or space in a floor.

Creating a Space use Category

When you want to create a custom space categorization you can create the massing, select the space and hit the '+' button below the space name.

When you click this a window will appear showing options to edit the name, area type, and color. Edit these to your preferences.

Once you put in the edits to your custom space use hit 'SAVE'.

You will notice that once you save this the new space use is part of the list of all the other space uses. You can assign other created spaces to your new space use.
