Opening a product
From the Items list, click the product name or ID to open it.
At the top of the page, you will see:
The product name
The status, such as Requested, Update requested, or Approved
A Guidance box explaining what Bowens needs
Access to filters, comments, and actions
Guidance panel
When data recipient asks you to provide or update information, a blue Guidance panel appears at the top of the product.
This panel tells you:
Which fields require your attention
How to fill in missing details
Tips to ensure data accuracy
How to avoid follow up requests
You should always read the guidance before making updates, as data recipient may include notes specific to the product or category.
Required fields
Attributes that must be completed are marked with a red star.
Missing required fields will:
Be highlighted
Block you from saving or submitting
Appear in the validation message if you try to submit with missing data
Required fields may include:
Supplier product title
Product description
Brand
Website link
Dimensions (width, length, height)
Weight
Country of manufacture
Attribute groups
Product information is organised into logical groups to make data entry simple.
Examples include:
Core product details
Dimensions
Brand and marketing
Compliance
Packaging
Additional family specific attributes
Attribute types
Different fields use different input types depending on the information required:
Text fields – titles, descriptions
Dropdown lists – controlled values like Brand
Numbers – quantities, pack sizes
Measurements – width, height, weight (unit is already defined)
Fields are structured to help you enter the correct value without needing extra formatting.
Attribute filters
On the right side of the item view, you will find helpful filters that let you focus only on the fields you need:
Attribute type (mandatory, optional, or both)
Attribute status (filled, empty, or both)
Attribute group
These filters are especially useful when Bowens has requested only a small number of changes, so you don’t need to scroll through the entire form.
Saving your changes
As you enter data, use the Save button to update the product.
Saving does not submit the product to data recipient; it simply stores your progress.
You can return later to complete remaining fields.
Validation messages
If you try to save or submit a product with missing required fields, a validation message will appear at the top of the screen.
This message lists every field that still needs attention, for example:
Product Width is required
Product Weight is required
Brand is required
Supplier Website Link is required
You must fill in all required fields before you can submit.
Submitting a completed product
Once all requested fields are complete:
Review your data
Ensure no validation messages appear
Click Submit (if data recipient has requested data from you)
The product status will update to Update submitted until data recipient reviews it.
