Introduction

All employees can drop shifts once enabled unless added to the 'Exclusion' list. The potential shifts for dropping are identified by performing a search that extends a maximum of 30 days into the future from the 'current date.' Review the process to approve shift drops once they have been submitted below.

Navigation

Begin by logging in to Lighthouse, then navigating to Workforce > Scheduler.

Note: You will need Lighthouse Business Manager credentials, as well as be the manager of your department and have the Manage Schedules permission in SkyTab Workforce to complete this task.

Shift drops are a request only and require the manager to re-assign the shift to another worker before the employee gets released from working the shift.

  1. The employee initiates a shift drop request.

  2. Other employees that match the shift requirements (i.e. job, availability) get returned to the employee.

  3. The employee selects one or more possible employees ('Recipients') who may be able to work the shift and sends the invitation.

  4. At this point, the employee is presented with a message, 'Drop is pending; this is still your shift,' setting the expectation they are still responsible for working the shift until it is re-assigned to another employee by the manager.

  5. The manager accesses the notification, reviews the list of recipients, and approves the request by re-assigning the shift to another employee.

  6. Once re-assigned, the shift drop process completes, and all parties are notified (Employee, Recipient, and Manager). The affected shift is automatically removed from the original employee and assigned to the new recipient.
