How To Set Up Direct To Cloud Storage

This support article explains how a HUB SuperAdmin can link their cloud storage to a HUB project.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

HUB SuperAdmins have the option to store any order linked to specific projects directly to their own cloud storage. This is advantageous for organizations that already have a company cloud storage option.

With this feature release for HUB, SkyWatch supports the following cloud storage options:

  • S3 Buckets

  • Azure

  • Google Cloud

To learn how to create and link a cloud storage to a select HUB project, please follow the instructions below.

Note: Only SuperAdmins have the permissions to add cloud storage to a HUB organization.

1. Creating a HUB Storage Link

To create a new link to an organization cloud storage, log onto HUB and go to the "Organization" tab.

In "Organization" HUB users will see a new tab in the table labelled "Storage".

Here is where a HUB SuperAdmin user can add a storage location to the HUB organization account. If the user does not have a SuperAdmin role, they will need to contact their SuperAdmin to add a storage location.

To begin the process, click on "+Add Storage Location".

A message will appear asking what type of storage the user wants to add.

Depending on the preferred storage location selected, the following information will be required to complete the process:

S3 Bucket

  • Name (Name for storage location to appear on HUB)

  • S3 Bucket link

  • AWS Region

  • Access Key

  • Secret Access Key

Google Cloud

  • Name

  • Bucket link

  • Private Key ID

  • Private Key

  • Email

  • Token URL

Azure Cloud

  • Name

  • Container

  • Connecting String

Once the HUB SuperAdmin has added all the required information and the storage location is created, it will appear on the table in "Organization" -> "Storage".

2. Linking Storage to Project

After the storage location is created, the SuperAdmin will need to link it to their desired project so all future orders placed with this project will also be saved to the cloud storage location.

In "Organization" -> "Project", select the Actions button for the desired project.

Click on the "Linked Storage Location" option, and in the drop-down menu select the Storage Name.

Once selected, the storage name will appear in the "Storage Location" column.

3. Order to Storage

With the storage location linked to a project, now every time an order is created and billing to that project, the data will be saved to the storage location.
