How to Use the Preview Image on Content Store
Updated over a year ago

Similar to other SkyWatch applications such as EXPLORE and HUB, Content Store allows you to view a low-resolution preview image of data products.

Preview images are kept at a low resolution to prevent unauthorized usage. For many use cases, the data is used solely to examine features visible at full resolution within the capture. Providing the full data resolution in these cases would eliminate the need for users to purchase the data for simple visual inspection.

Having only low-resolution previews available can make it difficult to assess the potential data quality of imagery you're considering purchasing. However, our providers adhere to data quality standards, ensuring that if you order high (0.5 m - 1 m) or very-high (0.1 m to 0.49 m) resolution imagery, what you receive will meet these quality standards.

If you wish to review the full-resolution quality of high and very high-resolution data products, please refer to our support document titled "What Data Can I Get From Content Store."

If you receive an image that does not meet the resolutions and data quality standards, we encourage you to contact support@skywatch.com. Our team will investigate and provide assistance. Additionally, the Support team can offer sample imagery links to clarify what you can expect from standard high and very high-resolution products.

Search results and previews are now added to the Content Store search map.

Zoomed in low resolution preview image over focus area:

You can see from this zoomed-in low-resolution preview over Kitchener, ON that there are no clouds present. This indicates that if a user orders this image, the delivered product will contain no clouds.

If you have a very large area of interest (AOI) layer, you can select multiple preview images at the same time. To identify which products have preview imagery enabled, they will be highlighted in blue (see image below).
