Being a school-based SLP is HARD. We are working on specially designed instruction, but often are not given the resources or funding that other educational professionals receive. We end up spending tons of our own money on these professional resources.
We always say, “We don’t want you to pay for it either!” Often times there is funding available to you, you just have to ask in the right way.
Here are some resources we've created so you don't have to pay for SLP Toolkit yourself:
If going through your PTO or principal at the school level, an informational flyer and purchase request letter are a great place to start.
If going through your SPED department at the district level, I would direct them to our website, which has a page dedicated to how SLP Toolkit benefits districts as a whole, as well as share this district packet. Here is a sample letter you can use when approaching your district with this request.
If seeking funding through something like "DonorsChoose", click here for a sample outline of wording for that. Note: We are not an integrated vendor with them (e.g. we do not sell our product through Amazon or Lakeshore). We are classified as a special request vendor. You can read more about that on the DonorsChoose site here.
No matter which route you go, if you find they have questions that you can't answer, please let us know as we would love to advocate on your behalf.
