The Smart Arena platform offers a powerful Authoring Tool designed to create engaging and dynamic learning experiences. Among its standout features are the interactive elements, which enable course creators to enhance user engagement and interactivity within their content. These elements allow for creative ways to present information, assess learning progress, and encourage participation.
The Video Mashup interactive add-on in Smart Arena allows course creators to combine videos with PDF or PowerPoint slides, making it an effective tool for blending visual content and interactive elements in e-courses.
1. Upload video
Begin by clicking on the Upload video button to select a video file from your computer. This will serve as the main visual content for your mashup.
2. Upload PDF or PowerPoint
Next, click on the Upload PDF/PPT button to add supplementary materials, such as a presentation or document that aligns with the video content. The PDF or PPT will appear as slides alongside the video, creating a synchronized viewing experience.
3. Configure slides
Once both the video and document files are uploaded, they will appear in the Slides section. Here, you can manage and arrange the slides to align with specific parts of the video by manually imputing the time when each slide should be projected in the Time input bracket. You can also play the video and click the Set time button when the slide should be projected, this will automatically save the correct time, ensuring that the slides correspond to key moments or topics covered in the video.
4. After configuring the video and slides, save the mashup to include it in your course.
The Video Mashup add-on is particularly useful for enhancing engagement and understanding in e-courses. By synchronizing video with supporting slides, learners can follow along more easily, reinforcing key points visually and textually. This format is ideal for presentations, lectures, and training sessions where visual aids complement spoken explanations, allowing learners to engage with content more dynamically.
Example
The Video with PPT/PDF feature plays a video alongside synchronized PDF pages or PowerPoint slides that appear at designated time intervals. This allows you to quickly and easily add explanations to the video content.
Avoid including text in both the video and presentation, as well as lengthy text on individual slides, as learners may find it challenging to follow.
This is how the Video Mashup will look to the learner. While the video plays, the slides will be displayed (according to the times we set).
