HVAC air filters play a crucial role in maintaining the air quality in your home. There are several rating systems that are used to indicate a filter’s ability to prevent various contaminants circulating through your ventilation systems such as MERV, MPR and FPR. SmartAC.com offers three filter types which have varying ability to filter out certain particles from the air.

-Basic: MERV rating 8. This is a good basic filter focused on removing certain types of pollen, dust, mold, dust mites, and bacteria.

-Plus: MERV rating 11. This filter is popular with pet owners. MERV 11 filters offer the filtration capabilities of MERV 8 with the added benefit of removing certain types of pet dander; tiny, even microscopic, flecks of skin shed by cats, dogs, rodents, birds, and other animals with fur or feathers.

-Premium: MERV rating 13. This is our highest quality filter, offering all benefits of basic and plus level filters with the added ability to reduce contaminants from types of smog, smoke, cooking oil, and virus carriers.
