If a student needs another opportunity to take an exam, instructors can grant an additional attempt directly through SmarterProctoring. This is considered an accommodation because it modifies the original exam access settings. If the exam window has already closed, be sure to extend the exam availability dates so the student can access the new attempt.
Don’t forget to update the exam settings within your LMS as well—such as increasing the number of allowed attempts and adjusting the exam availability dates—to ensure consistency with the changes made in SmarterProctoring.
Step-by-Step: Add a New Attempt for a Student
From your LMS course, click on the SmarterProctoring link in the left navigation menu to access the dashboard. Find the exam and click the View Exam button.
Scroll down to the Student Overview section and locate the student who needs another attempt. Click the Select action... dropdown next to their name, then choose Add attempt.
Upon adding the attempt, if you need to edit the accommodation, click the drop-down menu and select Edit Accommodation.
Important: Ensure that any accommodations are also configured within your LMS to reflect the additional attempt.
