Once you have saved your rules Smartplan will begin keeping track of them. Right above the blue button you use to publish your rota, you will see that the Assistant is monitoring your rules.

Here the Assistant will say how many broken rules you have and it can look like this:

Each time you change something in your rota, the Assistant will begin checking for broken rules.

If there are any broken rules you can click on "Show" and the Assistant will help you find and correct the broken rule:

In this example there is 1 broken rule for Nanna. If you click on the broken rule, Smartplan will scroll down to the day or week, so that you easily can correct it.

There is a difference between rule breaks and conflicts. Broken rules relate to the rules you have made for your various employees, such as "Max. hours pr. day", "Assign a day off per weekend shift" etc. The conflicts, on the other hand, occur when you try to assign a shift to an employee, who is already working at the specific time. The system will report a conflict:

You can read more about how to avoid conflicts in this guide: https://intercom.help/smartplan/en/articles/3398657-avoid-conflicts

It is possible to publish a rota despite rule breaks.
