How to Register as an IRS E-file Provider (EFIN Application)

To register as an IRS E-file Provider, kindly head to the E-File Provider Services page on the IRS website, and do the following steps.

Do ensure that you have all necessary information ready, including identification details for your firm and its principals. The application typically takes up to 45 days to be approved by the IRS, so it's crucial to start early.

Once approved, you will receive an Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) via mail, which is essential for electronically filing tax returns on behalf of clients. For more detailed guidance and requirements such as suitability checks and fingerprinting for non-certified officials, refer to IRS Publication 3112 or visit the IRS website directly.


Kindly fill up the E-File Application form with all of the necessary, and once completed, proceed to the additional information section:
