How to Enter a 1099-INT

Learn how to correctly enter Form 1099-INT (Interest Income) in TaxWise to report interest income on a tax return.

  1. Add Schedule B to the Return

    • Click the "+" button to add Schedule B to the tax return.

  2. Link the Interest Statement Form

    • On the first line under the Other Interest section, click the gray triangle to link the Interest Statement form.

  3. Attach Additional Forms (if needed)

    • Use the paperclip icon to attach any required supporting forms.

  4. Create a New Interest Statement

    • Click "New" to begin entering interest income details.

  5. Select the Interest Income Form

    • Click Interest Stmt - Schedule B Line 1b Interest Income to proceed.

  6. Enter the Payer’s Name

    • This should match the entity listed on the 1099-INT as the sender.

  7. Input the Interest Income Details

    • Enter the remaining information exactly as it appears on the taxpayer’s 1099-INT, including:

      • Interest Income

      • Tax-Exempt Interest

      • Federal and State Tax Withheld
