Drake Accounting's Firm Information Setup configures essential firm details for tax preparation and e-filing compliance.

To set up the firm information, go to Firm > Firm Information Setup.

Some fields have a red exclamation point that indicates that the field is required. The fields that do not have the exclamation point are optional entries.

Required Entries in Firm Setup

To ensure successful electronic filing, the following details must be entered in the Firm Setup:

  • Firm Name

  • Contact Person: The individual responsible for communicating with the IRS regarding client accounts. Required for e-filing.

  • Firm Address & Zip Code

  • Firm Phone Number

  • Email Address (Required for e-filing): Used throughout the program for forms requiring the firm’s email information.

  • Federal ID (EIN or SSN): Employer Identification Number or Social Security Number. Forms W-2 can be e-filed using an SSN only if the firm is a sole proprietorship with no employees.

  • EFIN (Electronic Filing Identification Number)

  • Drake Account Number: Found in Salesforce and required to e-file 94x series tax returns.

  • e-File Password: Retrieved from Salesforce, needed for electronic filing.

  • TCC (Transmitter Control Code): A five-character alphanumeric code assigned by the IRS/ECC-MTB, necessary for e-filing 1099 data.
