Unemployment compensation is part of the gross income reported on an individual tax return (Form 1040). If the taxpayer received unemployment benefits during the year, they should have received Form 1099-G after the year ends, which will show the amount they were paid.

To enter unemployment compensation:

From the left-side menu, navigate to the Federal Section, then select Income.

2. Go to 1099-G Box 1

3. Go to Add or Edit a 1099-G
