Checking the Status of a Tax Return

To check the status of a tax return, including e-file status and bank product status, follow these steps:

How to Access Tax Return Status:

  1. Find the client status button below the toolbar in the main interface.

  2. Alternatively, go to the Main Menu (Quick Menu) and select Client Status.

    To find the status of a specific tax return:

    1. Enter the SSN in the designated search field.

    2. Or click "Client List" and select the return from the displayed list.

    Below, you can view details such as IRS status, refund amount, bank product information, and other key return details in the status tabs.

Tabs and Information Available:

  • QuickView:

    The QuickView tab provides an overview of a tax return's status, including IRS and bank acknowledgments, refund amounts, and associated fees. Here’s what you can check:

    • IRS Center: Where the return was processed.

    • IRS Code – Indicates whether the return is accepted or rejected by the IRS.

    • Bank & IRS Dates – Shows when the tax return or bank application was sent and accepted.

    • Federal & State Refund/Due – Displays the anticipated refund or amount owed.

    • Federal & State Deposit – Lists deposit dates and amounts for IRS/state funding.

    • Check Details (Bank Product Returns Only) – Shows check number, amount, and issue date.

    • Fee Breakdown – Includes preparation, e-file, and additional partner product fees, along with payment status.

    These details help in tracking the processing status and financial aspects of the return efficiently.

  • Summary:

    Shows an overview of the tax return, refund status, and transmission details.

  • Acks:

    The Acks tab displays all acknowledgments received for the tax return. Each time a return is transmitted and acknowledged, a new entry appears in this tab.

Description

IRS Acknowledgements

Displays the status of the return as acknowledged by the IRS.

State Acknowledgements

Shows the state’s response, indicating whether the return was accepted or rejected.

  • State: Displays state-specific tax return details, including the state name, electronic filing type, return type (resident, non-resident, part-year), refund or amount due, transmission date, acceptance status, and acceptance date.

  • Other: Provides additional taxpayer details such as a secondary phone number, AGI, total tax, withholding, Earned Income Credit (EIC), and refund or amount due.

  • Notes: Allows the preparer to add custom notes related to the tax return. This function is also accessible by right-clicking the return in the Client List.

  • Refund Status Button: Links to the IRS "Where's My Refund?" page, where users can check refund status by entering the client’s SSN, filing status, and refund amount then click Submit.
