How To
Navigate to the Accounts dropdown from the left navigation > Select Trade Restrictions option
Choose from three restriction categories to control execution.
Exclusions: Block the purchase or holding of specific securities, like an employer’s stock. Decide whether to move the restricted weight to cash or reallocate it proportionally across the portfolio.
Substitutions: Replace a security in your trading program with a preferred alternative. Use this to swap out a proprietary fund for an equivalent security.
Equivalent Securities: Use to treat multiple securities—like different share classes of the same equity—as identical for trading. This reduces unnecessary trading, minimizes turnover, and helps maintain performance.
Each contains slide out details to fill out.
Schedule restrictions by setting start and end dates. When a restriction expires, SMArtX can automatically rebalance the account back into the original security if needed.
Edit or remove restrictions anytime from the Trade Restrictions screen. Adjust end dates or delete rules as your clients’ needs change.
Trade restrictions in SMArtX provide advanced, flexible, account-level controls—all fully integrated into your trading engine—so you can address client preferences without complicating portfolio management
