DAY 2 Focus β Advanced Workflows: Taxable Accounts & SMAs
Goal: Use more complex workflows including:
Taxable account transitions
Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs)
These workflows require additional analysis and decision-making.
Taxable Accounts β Transition Tool Workflow
Initial Setup (Follow the Core SMArtX Workflow Guide)
Complete the following before using the Transition Tool:
Verify account appears in Active Account Summary
Set up trade restrictions and protected positions
Create and assign a target portfolio
When to Use the Transition Tool
If the account has high unrealized gains, you may:
Remove it from the Rebalancer
Use the Transition Tool instead

Transition Tool Step-by-Step
Step 1: Select Account
Open the Transitions Analysis Tool from the left hand navigation
Use the On-platform option
Select the account using account name or number
Step 2: Target Weights
Confirm what is there OR
Assign the new target account
Adjust the target weights as needed
Confirm
Step 3: Tax Budget
Set Capital Gains Budget from 0% - 100%
Or Add Custom Budget
Transition Scheduler
To automate the process, set a reoccurring schedule so the system can attempt to liquidate losses and offset gains as you specify until the transition is complete.
Step 4: Allocate
Review the Allocation Summary page
Step 5: Submit
Focus: Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs)
SMAs are not traded through SMArtX.
The SMA manager trades directly at the custodian
Trade restrictions and cash management in SMArtX do not apply
Any coordination must be done directly with the manager

Identify Account
Search for the SMA type of strategy through the Investment Product Page
Go to the Microsite
Complete the intake form found on the Overview page
