Overview
The rebalancer in SMArtX is a critical tool for managing account allocations and ensuring trades are executed according to assigned models or strategies. Below are common issues and troubleshooting steps to resolve them effectively.
Immediate Visibility of Targets in the Rebalancer
When a target is assigned to an account, it should appear in the rebalancer immediately. If the target does not show up, follow these steps:
Verify that the target assignment was completed successfully.
Toggle the rebalancer off and then back on. This action often prompts the target to appear in the rebalancer.
Verifying Allocation and Executing Trades
Assignment to a model or strategy does not automatically mean the account is allocated. To ensure the account is ready for trading, follow these steps:
Check if the account has an open sleeve for the assigned model. If no open sleeve exists, the account has not been rebalanced into the strategy.
Open the rebalancer and confirm that the account is in the queue.
Execute the rebalance to create the sleeve and place the necessary trades.
Top Tips
Always ensure the rebalancer is functioning correctly by verifying its status.
Double-check all assignments and allocations to confirm they align with the intended strategy.
If issues persist, consult the SMArtX Advisory Solutions support team for further assistance.
Liquidating an Account - if you would like to liquidate an account entirely, remove the target portfolio and submit the account through the rebalancer. Any account that does not have a target portfolio assigned will be liquidated to cash when rebalanced.
Rebalancing On/Off button - this button on the account details page controls whether or not the platform will include this account in the daily Target evaluation process. It does not stop manager model signals from being implemented in the account when toggled off.
If the target does not appear in the rebalancer after assignment, toggle the rebalancer off and then back on. This action often prompts the target to appear.
Rebalancing Frequency - adjustments to your Rebalance Thresholds can increase/decrease the sensitivity of the Target to the activities that can put the account into the rebalancer. Tightening the rebalance thresholds shrinks the drift bands on an asset while widening the rebalance thresholds has the opposite effect.
Setting a rebalance threshold of 0% will imply that you are not concerned whether that asset is in the account or not which typically generates undesirable trading behavior. It is not recommended to set a lower rebalance threshold to 0%.
Model Investment Minimums - when initiating a model allocation via a rebalance, the platform will only accept the allocation if the investment minimum is met or exceeded. If that does not happen, your rebalance request will either Fail or be Complete with Errors (depending on the details of the rest of your submission). For example, a model that has a $10K investment minimum where you want that model to be 20% of your account value implies that the total account value must be
$50K or greater for the allocation to successfully be opened.
