Within the Smartzer player, it's possible to have different assets or settings in use for mobile and desktop users. In order to achieve the best experience for each user and device, we recommend using the Smartzer ratio settings. It's possible to configure the Smartzer player to up to 3 different ratio settings, which are as follows:

16:9 - Landscape (Desktop)

1:1 - Square

9:16 - Vertical (Mobile)

Locating the ratio settings

You can find the ratio settings towards the top right of the screen as shown below. You will find a drop-down with the three ratio settings. Under each ratio, your video will adapt to fit the shape of the window it is viewed in.

Adjusting your Video Source to suit the ratio

In the video upload section, you should upload landscape and vertical videos for viewing experience optimization. Here, you can choose which video source will be used for each ratio. For landscape videos, it is recommended to use the 16:9 and for vertical 9:16, for example. You can click the edit icon on the video file in the upload section and click the ratio icons to adjust accordingly for each video.

Top Tip: Use the ratio icons in the preview window to preview your different ratio settings.

Adapting your end screen carousel to suit each ratio

Using a product carousel at the end of your video on the replay screen is a great way to encourage viewers to re-explore your products and may even convince them to make a purchase. Depending on what ratio you are using we recommend adjusting the number of products displayed to optimise the viewing experience.

Our recommendation is to use the following for each ratio:

16:9: 4

1:1: 2

9:16: 1
