Contract settings define the employee's employment terms and how their pay is calculated.
Configuring contract settings
After entering personal details, configure the employee's contract settings.
Start date
The date the employee commenced employment. This is critical as it determines leave accruals and other entitlements.
Contract & Employment type
Select the appropriate Contract type:
Permanent - Standard leave entitlements
Temporary - Same as permanent but different use case
Casual - Most leave entitlements disabled, provides casual loading/holiday pay for Australia/New Zealand
Independent Contractor - No leave entitlements, person is self employed
Select the appropriate Employment type:
Full time
Part time
Piece work
Mostly indicative only, although piece work does allow some extra features in New Zealand used for capturing THW (total hours worked) for the purposes of calculating top-ups based on minimum wage
Pay cycle
How often this employee will be paid:
Weekly
Fortnightly
Four-weekly
Monthly
Not all pay cycles are supported by every country
Interpretation of working week
Configure the employee's working pattern. For detailed information on these settings, refer to the "Understanding the interpretation of working week" article.
You'll need to set:
Days per week
One day equals
One week equals
Hourly rate or Annual salary
Additional contract settings
Apprenticeship
Provides some basic settings which allow logging of hours worked on an apprenticeship.
Overtime/RDO
Settings that control how the timesheet feature in the payrun screen handles automatic overtime calculations. It also provides automatic time banking methods like TOIL/RDO (Time Off In Lieu/Rostered Days Off).
Timesheet
Options that integrate with a particular timeclock device and import function. Does not work with anything else in the payroll.
Misc
Offers various uncategorised additional functions. The available options vary by country, though some are consistent across all regions.
