In Snaptrude, you can capture and save customized model views for easy access later or use in presentations. Note that the steps shown below can be used in both Design and BIM mode models. In other words, create views for both concept space models and BIM models. Additionally, you can export these views as images in formats such as .jpeg, .png, or .jpg directly onto your systems or use them in the Present Mode to generate sheets or ideate on the canvas.
Accessing 2D & 3D Views
2D Plan Views: All 2D plan views can be accessed from the 'Views' Panel on the left side of the screen. As you create new storeys in the project, 2D plan views are automatically generated in there. .
3D Views: All 3D views are available in the '3D Views' section of the Views panel. By default, a 'Default' 3D view is provided. As you create and save additional 3D views, they will appear in this list for easy access.
Follow the steps below to learn how to set up and customize a view using 'View Settings'.
Setting up a View
You can customize both Plan and 3D views in Snaptrude by adjusting the camera position by using pan, orbit, zoom or position camera and by controlling the visibility of elements in your scene.
Step 1: Navigate to the Desired View
Go to the Views tab in the left-hand toolbar.
Select either a Plan View or a 3D View from the list.
Step 2: Adjust the Camera
Use the following tools to set up the right perspective:
Pan: Right-click and drag to move around the view.
Zoom: Scroll with your mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
Orbit (3D only): Click and drag using the middle mouse button to rotate around the model.
Step 3: Show or Hide Elements
Use 'Hide' (Select>right click>Hide or shortcut 'H') to hide elements within a view or 'Show All' (Shortcut 'U') to unhide hidden elements.
Step 4: Save the View
Click on the '+' sign next to Plans or 3D views (that is the Save Plan View or Save 3D View button) to create a copy of the view.
Click on the three dots next to the view to rename it as needed to keep your views organized.
Pro-tip: Use the Position Camera tool in the bottom-right corner to set a specific 3D view, then fine-tune it by rotating and panning.
Adjusting View Settings
To further customize your view such as change canvas color, model color, and other visual settings, use 'View Settings'. These settings are the same for both 2D and 3D views. View Settings can be accessed in the View panel directly as shown in the image below:
The following settings can be modified here:
a. Canvas Color: To change the canvas color, click on Canvas Color. Adjust the color using the slider, input an RGB value, or enter the hex code of the color you want.
b. Color Mode: Change your color mode from Texture, Monochrome or Department.. If your spaces are categorized by department, use the department mode. If colors are applied to individual spaces, use the Texture mode. And if you wish to view model in monochrome, select the Monochrome option.
c. Perspective/Orthographic (3D only): Switch the view from perspective to orthographic by selecting the respective options.
d. Advanced Settings: Hide the axis and element edges from the view by unchecking the options under Advance Settings.
e. Labels: Add labels by clicking on the plus sign next to the Labels section. From the dropdown, define what you want to include with the labels, such as the department and areas. (To hide these labels, click on the 'β' next to 'Labels'.)
Update the View: After adjusting these settings, click on Update View. (Updating a view only affects that specific view and doesn't change the other existing views or copies of the same view).
Pro-tip: Create a copy of the view with the updated settings by clicking on '+' for Plan or 3D views respectively, rename it as needed, and continue editing the original plan view.
Delete, Rename or Update Views
