Women for Sobriety (WFS) is a secular, abstinence-based recovery program specifically designed for women overcoming problematic alcohol or other drug use. Founded in 1975, WFS is built around its New Life Program, which uses 13 Acceptance Statements to encourage emotional growth, self-worth, personal responsibility, and the development of healthier ways of living.
A major emphasis is on moving away from shame and guilt and toward empowerment, connection, and positive change. WFS offers free online and in-person meetings led by trained peer facilitators, along with connection groups and an online community where women can find support from others who understand their experiences.
