Secular Organizations for Sobriety (SOS)—also known as Save Our Selves—is a secular recovery approach for people seeking sobriety from alcohol and other drugs. It is designed for people who prefer a recovery environment that does not rely on religion, spirituality, or belief in a higher power. Its philosophy centers on personal responsibility, honesty, self-reliance, and maintaining sobriety as a priority.
SOS meetings provide peer support where people can talk openly about their experiences, challenges, and successes in sobriety. The approach is generally less prescriptive than traditional 12-step programs, allowing participants to develop their own understanding of recovery while benefiting from the experience and encouragement of others.
