Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

Website: aa.org

Alcoholics Anonymous is a peer-support fellowship for people who want to stop drinking or maintain sobriety from alcohol. Members share their experiences with one another in meetings and use the Twelve Steps as a framework for personal recovery. AA is not a professional treatment program, and membership is free.

Meetings provide opportunities to connect with people who understand the challenges of alcohol recovery. Members may work through the Steps with a sponsor, attend meetings regularly, and participate in service. AA groups differ in format and atmosphere, so newcomers are encouraged to explore different meetings and find one where they feel comfortable.
