Heroin Anonymous is a peer-support fellowship for people who want to stop using heroin and maintain recovery. It uses the Twelve Steps to help members examine their experiences, develop accountability, and build a life beyond active addiction. Its community is centered on shared experience and mutual support.
Members can participate in meetings, connect with others who understand heroin addiction, and work through the Steps with a sponsor. Peer support can offer encouragement and connection throughout recovery, including during difficult periods. HA is not a substitute for medical care; people who use opioids may also benefit from evidence-based treatment, including medications for opioid use disorder, and other professional support.
