Chemically Dependent Anonymous (CDA)

Written by Heidi M

Website: cdaweb.org

Chemically Dependent Anonymous is a Twelve Step fellowship for people seeking recovery from chemical dependency. It offers a peer-support setting in which members can share their experiences, recognize patterns that have affected their lives, and learn from others who are pursuing recovery. Its approach draws on the Twelve Step tradition of personal reflection, mutual support, and ongoing growth.

Members may attend meetings, build relationships with others in recovery, and work through the Steps with a sponsor. As with other peer fellowships, the goal is to provide a supportive community rather than professional treatment. People may participate in CDA alongside counseling, medical care, or other recovery resources that meet their needs.
