Introduction

  • Purpose: This article explains how to create and send notifications to ambassadors, allowing you to share program updates, important announcements, and prompt engagement with new challenges and products.

  • Context: Notifications can be sent via SMS or email, providing a direct and efficient way to keep ambassadors informed, engaged, and aligned with your program activities.

Understanding the SMS/Email Delivery

The notification feature enables you to communicate general updates, campaigns, and events to ambassadors based on their preferences (SMS, email, both, or neither).

Important Notes

  • Ambassadors who have turned off both SMS and email notifications will not receive any messages. However, they can still see posts in their app feed. It is recommended to send notifications via both SMS and email.

  • SMS Notification Aggregation: To avoid overwhelming ambassadors with multiple SMS messages, the system aggregates notifications. If multiple messages are sent within 30 minutes, they will be combined into a single message with one alert.

Steps to Create a Notification

  1. Navigate to Notifications:

    • Go to Community > Notifications to begin creating a new notification.

  2. Fill Out Notification Details:

    • Notification Name: Add a brief, descriptive title to easily identify the notification later.

    • Notification Text: Write the message body. (For SMS, limit to 180 characters to remain concise and effective.)

    • Schedule Date: Choose when the notification will be sent. If sending multiple notifications within a short window, SocialLadder may delay delivery by up to 30 minutes avoid spamming ambassadors.

    • Segment: Select the ambassador group(s) to receive the notification. This ensures targeted communication for specific segments.

    • Campaign: Organize notifications by campaign for better management and tracking of related challenges, rewards, and posts.

  3. Save and Activate:

    • Click Save + Activate to send the notification. Alternatively, you can Save as Draft to finalize it later.

Best Practices/Tips

  • Keep SMS notifications concise: Ensure SMS mesages are clear and to the point due to the 180-character limit.

  • Plan ahead: Schedule notifications in advance to prevent delays and ensure ambassadors are updated on time.

  • Combine communication channels: Use both SMS and email to maximize reach, especially for critical updates.
