Maxime your recruitment widget

5 tactics to get more applications

Updated over 5 months ago

Congrats on going live with your recruitment widget 🎉

Having the widget on your website is already a fantastic start. You've made it easy for candidates to apply without friction. If you're to accelerate your hiring and get more applications, here are five key tactics to maximize your recruitment widget.

1. Be creative with your banner

The banner on the top of your website pulls in over 50% of applications, more if you get the messaging right. And that's harder than you might think, as you have a maximum of 60 characters to show candidates why they should apply. The text in the banner (find it in your Assistant settings) is the essence of your employee value proposition. Here are a few examples to spark your creativity.

Café de Tros, Amsterdam

Zero Zero, Amsterdam

Studio, Maastricht

Flora, Den Haag

Arie, Amsterdam

2. Make your jobs page stand out

While the recruitment banner does the heavy lifting, we recommend a dedicated Jobs page as well. Take some space to list the benefits of working at your restaurant, that's the primary goal of this page. It's also good to explain what you expect from candidates, but make that secondary.

💡 Tips for jobs pages

  • Add an "Apply Now" button to open the widget
This creates great interaction between the website and widget. Use the anchor #widget-open as a link to open the widget.

  • Use strong visuals. Show people, not interior pictures.

  • Have a clear value proposition for employees. Bullets work fine.

  • Show you are part of a group. It's interesting for candidates to see possible career paths within the group

Strong employer branding

Clear 'What in in for me'

Looks like a fun place to work

3. Align your team

Inform all restaurant managers that applications now go exclusively through the widget. No more WhatsApp messages or emails. This ensures:

  • All applications are centralized in one place

  • You capture complete candidate information consistently

  • Nothing falls through the cracks between different managers

  • You can track and measure your hiring pipeline effectively

Make sure every team member knows to send interested candidates to your website or use the direct application methods below.

4. Use QR codes

Generate QR codes for applications from people already at your location. When someone scans the code, it opens your recruitment widget full-screen on their phone. No need to visit the website.

You'll find a direct link to the widget in your Hiring Assistant SDK (go to your Assistant, choose a widget and click on 'Implement widget' in the right upper corner).

Track QR codes by adding ?tags=yourtag to the direct link. For example, if you have a QR code on the window you want to track, the direct link would be:

https://hiring-assistant.soigne.app/67e50fa18c0cdaa0ac415d3d/widget?tags=qrwindow

💡 Tips for QR codes

  • Include a compelling message and a clear call-to-action. For example: "Passionate about wine & food? Scan & apply now!"

  • Use the same copy as your website banner. Maintaining consistent messaging across all channels is key.

  • Keep posters simple and clean.

5. Post on socials

Post on your socials and use the direct link in your "link in bio" on Instagram and other social platforms.

Tracking and Measurement:

  • The SDK includes Meta Pixel and Google Analytics tracking

  • Measure the success of your social media campaigns and ads

  • See which channels bring you the best candidates

This means you can run targeted recruitment ads and know exactly which ones are working.

Pro tip: Consistency is key. Whether someone sees your job posting on social media, your website banner, or a QR code poster, they should see the same compelling message about why they should work at your restaurant. This builds trust and reinforces your employer brand across every touchpoint.
