Agents: Getting Started

Written by Ryley White

Solink Agents are AI assistants that monitor what's actually happening at your locations.

Agents produce structured insight you can act on — across cameras, locations, and time; they are the difference between showing you that "something happened"* and "this is what happened, why it matters, and what you should do."

This guide helps you get started with agents. See the following additional guides for more information on Solink Agents:

Requirements

Please note the following requirements in order to use and access Solink Agents:

  • The ability to create and edit Solink Agents is only available in the web/browser version of the Solink platform. Agent creation and editing is unavailable in the mobile apps. However, events generated with Agents are still viewable in the Solink mobile app.

  • Users require the Agents user permission to be enabled in order to create and edit agents. Admin users can configure user permissions from the Users page in the Solink platform.

Available Agents

Solink offers the following agents to help you identify certain activity across a wide range of use cases.

Flagship Agents

Each of Solink's flagship agents are capable of covering multiple use cases, offering a high level of flexibility:

Agent

Role

Key Use Case

Overnight Guard

Security & Trespassing

Catch movement, loitering, or forced entry during closed hours.

Loss Prevention Agent

Financial Integrity

Flag suspicious voids, "sweethearting," or unauthorized discounts.

Store Readiness Agent

Business Preparedness

Helps make sure your location is ready before opening. The agent runs through your opening checks and confirms they've been completed.

Skill-Based Agents

In addition to the agents listed above, Solink offers skill-based agents — narrower, more focused checks for specific tasks.

Skills are simpler than full agents and typically monitor for a single activity.

Solink continues to improve the agent offering, but at launch several skill-based agents are included such as:

  • Blocked Exit Check

  • Blocked Camera View Check

  • Customer Experience Check

  • Food Prep Area Cleanliness

  • Stock Levels Check

Image/Video Search Agent

The Custom Image and Video Search Agent allows you to upload a reference video or image and train the agent to only monitor for something specifically within the uploaded reference.

You might want to run one of these agents to monitor for:

  • A specific license plate of vehicle

  • A specific person

  • A specific activity (such as a slip and fall)

Custom Agents

Not seeing an agent that fits your exact use case? Solink offers custom agents that are tailored just for you. Work with your Customer Success representative to create an optimal agent for your needs.

Agent Hours (Credits)

Agents require a balance of agent hours to run.

There are two methods to acquire agent hours:

  • By default you are granted 20 agent hours per location, which pool across your entire account (for instance, 5 locations = 100 agent hours across all locations).

  • You can also purchase additional hours if needed. Please reach out to your Solink Customer Success representative to acquire more hours.

You can view your agent hours on the main Agents page at the top of the page:

The Agent Usage meter shows:

  • How many hours you have currently used (solid line on the meter).

  • How many hours you are projected to use, based on all of your currently enabled agents and their schedules (faded line on the meter).

  • The remaining agent hours, taking into account both currently used and projected (grey/empty line).

Note: Agent hours reset on the first day of each month. There is no rollover for unused agent hours.

How to Create Agents
