What is open banking?

Currently Solo supports connecting bank accounts using the official open banking connection for ASB, BNZ and ANZ. We hope to launch support for Westpac in the next couple of months once they finish their API.

You can read more about open banking and what it means for you here.

How to switch your existing bank connections to open banking

If you've already connected your bank accounts before open banking was launched, you'll be asked to reconnect so we can switch you to using open banking.

Pre open banking connections for ASB, BNZ and ANZ will no longer receive new transactions after 31 March 2026.

On the Bank feeds page you'll likely see a messages telling you to reconnect in order to switch to open banking:

  1. Click "Reconnect bank" and you'll be redirected to Akahu.

  2. Follow the Akahu steps until you get to this screen, then tap on the blue banner:

3. Then click "Switch to official [bank] connection":

4. After that, you'll be prompted to complete the connection flow which can vary between banks. It usually involves approving the connection request in your mobile banking app and then selecting which accounts you want to connect.

After you've successfully switched your connection over to open banking, you will see a 'Official connection' label below the bank name in Solo.
