Soma NPT supports heart rate–driven training modes to help you monitor intensity and optimize athlete performance in real time. This guide walks you through the full setup and flow for using Heart Rate Zone (HRZ) and Adaptive Heart Rate (AHR) modes.
Step 1: Connect the Polar H10
Before starting any session, the athlete must connect their Polar H10 heart rate monitor to Soma NPT.
Follow these steps:
Tap the “More” button in Soma NPT.
Tap “Polar Not Connected.”
Tap the name of your Polar H10 device from the list.
✅ Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and that Soma NPT has permission to connect via Bluetooth.
Once connected, Soma NPT will begin displaying the athlete’s live heart rate data on screen.
Step 2: Enter the Training Plan
Once the heart rate monitor is connected, the athlete can proceed to enter their assigned plan within Soma NPT.
Step 3: 1-Minute Baseline HRV (HRV SS)
After entering the plan, Soma will automatically launch a 1-minute HRV scan known as HRV SS.
This records a snapshot of the athlete’s baseline heart rate variability before the session starts.
⚡ We’ve limited this to 1 minute to avoid delays—most athletes don’t want to sit for 3–5 minutes before training.
Step 4: Age Input for HR Calibration
For any task that includes HRZ or AHR modes, Soma will prompt the athlete to enter their age using a simple slider.
This is used to calculate the appropriate target heart rate zones for the session.
Step 5: Begin the Task
Once the athlete has entered their age and reached the required heart rate zone, the task will automatically begin.
Step 6: Live Monitoring & Auto-Pause
During the task, Soma continuously monitors the athlete’s heart rate:
If the heart rate falls below or exceeds the required zone, Soma will pause the task.
The task will resume automatically once the athlete returns to the correct zone.
