Issues related to the Polar H10's connectivity are invariably tied to the strap, not the application. Connection disruptions arise from the subsequent factors:

  • Battery status.

  • Concurrent operation of other apps during the strap's connection process.

  • Simultaneous connection attempts with other devices during the strap's linkage process.

  • Erroneous connection or pairing procedures.

  • Issues with the strap's sensor or connector.

Check Your Battery

The first step in resolving any issues with your Polar H10 heart rate sensor is to check the battery. Make sure the battery is charged or replace it if necessary.

Reset Your Polar H10

If the battery is not the issue, then it's time to reset your Polar H10. This can be done by removing the battery and reinserting it.

Disconnect From Other Apps

Avoid being connected to other apps simultaneously when establishing a connection with Soma NPT. You can simply swipe up to close any unnecessary apps.

Disconnect From Other Devices

Be sure not to have your Polar HR monitor connected to multiple devices when you're trying to establish a link with Soma NPT. If your monitor is connected to another device, please ensure to disconnect it.

Disconnect From Other Devices Also Logged Into Soma NPT

Ensure you're not simultaneously connected to multiple devices using Soma NPT when trying to establish a connection with it. You could accidentally be logged in and connected to Soma NPT on a device like your iPad, while attempting to connect your Polar H10 to your iPhone. Be sure to check and disconnect from other devices as needed.

Verify Connection

Sometimes, the issue with the heart rate sensor can be due to an incorrect connection. Ensure that you are not connected to another device that may be interfering with your Polar H10.

Check Pairing

It's important to verify that your Polar H10 heart rate sensor is paired correctly with your device. Follow the instructions for pairing the sensor to your device if necessary.

Wear the Heart Rate Sensor Correctly

Make sure that you are wearing the heart rate sensor correctly before connecting it to your device. This will ensure that you get accurate heart rate readings.

Enable Bluetooth

Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your device for the Soma NPT app. This is a crucial step in getting your Polar H10 heart rate sensor to work properly.

Clean the Sensor Strap and Connector

Dirt and debris can affect the performance of your Polar H10 heart rate sensor. Clean the sensor strap and connector to ensure that they are free of any dirt or debris.

Forget and Reconnect

If you have tried all the above steps and your Polar H10 heart rate sensor is still not working, try forgetting the device under Bluetooth settings and reconnect via the Soma NPT app.

These simple troubleshooting steps should resolve any issues you may be facing with your Polar H10 heart rate sensor. If you still have trouble, reach out to Soma Technologies for further assistance.

Tips to Eliminate Erratic Heart Rate Data

To enhance the accuracy of your Polar H10 heart rate monitor and avoid erratic readings, follow these guidelines:

  • Pre-moisten the Strap: Before wearing the strap, rinse it under water. This enhances the electrical connection with your body, especially in cold or windy conditions or when you're not sweating enough. Keep the strap's electrodes moist.

  • Secure Fit: Wear the strap tightly to prevent it from sliding.

  • Warm-Up Routine: Engage in a 5–10 minute warm-up before starting your activity.

  • Choose Cotton Over Synthetic Shirts: Wear a cotton shirt as synthetic fabrics can generate static electricity, disrupting heart rate signals. If you wear a technical (synthetic) shirt, dampening it might help.

  • Stay Away from Electromagnetic Interference: Avoid areas with strong electromagnetic fields and 2.4 GHz wireless sensors, like high voltage power lines, microwave ovens, cordless phones, and wireless access points to prevent signal interference.
