How Is RCS Calculated?
Updated this week

RCS (Rate Correct Score) measures how many correct responses an athlete makes per second, balancing speed and accuracy.

  • Higher RCS = Faster, more precise reactions

  • Lower RCS = Slower responses or more errors

RCS Calculation Formula

RCS = c / ∑RTs

C = Number of correct responses

∑RT = Sum of all reaction times (in seconds)

Example Calculation

1. Given data:

  • Total trials: 100

  • Correct responses: 90

Average reaction time per response: 0.500 seconds

2. Calculate RCS:

  • RCS = 90 / 0.500 = 180

  • 180 / 100 = 1.8

Thus, the athlete’s RCS = 1.8, meaning they correctly respond 1.8 times per second on average.

By tracking RCS alongside reaction time and accuracy, coaches can assess an athlete’s ability to make quick and precise decisions under pressure.
