SonicSpec can help you efficiently gather compliance notes and project requirements (quote considerations) from your contract documents.

SonicSpec can also help you translate those quote considerations into product selections that your company can manufacture. However, in order to turn generic quote considerations into a configured product selection within the framework of your company's offering, we need to add your product configurations in SonicSpec.

Adding Product Selection Fields to Product Types and Product Lines

Product Types are provided as a more general product category (i.e. "generator") whereas Product Lines may be a specific product within the Product Type category (i.e. "KD1000").

We recommend that you create a Product Type product selection fields lists first as you will be able to utilize this more generic selection fields list as a starting point for your specific Product Lines product selection fields lists.

Click the Product Types tab from your home screen

Click the Product Type that you wish to add a Product Selection Fields list to.

Begin adding new Fields that must be selected to sell your product or service (i.e. "Voltage" or "Size", etc.)

Select the appropriate Data Type for the respective Field

If the Field is an 'Enum' or 'Array' Data Type, begin adding the available options that the salesperson may select for the given selection Field.

Add Option Descriptions to help the AI understand when to select a particular option if it would be unclear to the average person when the respective option should be selected.

The option description will be primarily used by the AI to automatically translate a list of Quote Considerations into product selections. Telling the AI when to select a particular option will greatly improve the AI's ability to select the correct options.

If the option is very straightforward (i.e. 480V), then the AI will not need as much help (i.e. if you have a "480V" QC, the AI will be able to select a "480V" option in the voltage field without much additional assistance).

If the option uses company-specific jargon or nomenclature, it will be very important to include an option description. For instance, in the below screenshot, the AI will not necessarily know what constitutes a voltage option of "Medium Voltage". Therefore, you may want to explicitly provide some instructions about which voltage values shall lead to a "Medium Voltage" product selection in the Voltage field.

Add Selection Rules to provide further instruction for the AI at the Field level

You can provide further instructions to the AI about how to provide a product selection in the "Selection Rules" column. This can be especially useful if the data type is not Enum or Array (data types that have option lists).

However, you can also utilize the Selection Rules for Enum and Array data types as there may be some instances where it makes sense to provide instruction at the Field level rather than the Option level.

Add Field or Option Dependencies if your product or service has specific conditions where certain options become unavailable or if a specific option shall be selected.

(If applicable) Copy your product selections table to other Product Types or Product Lines so you don't need to start from scratch if similar options.
