How do I unpost or provide feedback to multiple students in Analytics?

Use built-in webtext tools to provide additional feedback to more than one student at the same time

Written by Soomo Instructor Support

In addition to unposting and commenting on individual responses, you can perform these actions for multiple students at the same time.

Go to Analytics and select a page

First, access Analytics. Then click on the blue box corresponding to the page you want to view.

After clicking on the blue box, you will see a detailed view of the student’s work on that page.

Review all student responses

From the page detail view, find the short-answer or response-board question you want to view. Select View all responses to see the full list of answers from your class on the question review screen. (Note: Writing templates allow single comments, but not multiple comments at once.)

Provide feedback to your students

Check the box next to each student whose response you would like to unpost or comment on.

Click Compose Comment to type your feedback. You can use this to leave the same comment to multiple students at once, or you can comment on individual student responses.

If you’d like students to revise their work, write your comment first, then click Unpost. This reverts their response to a draft state so they can read your feedback and make edits before reposting.

When you unpost a response, the student will be notified and will temporarily lose credit for the question until they submit a new response.

Tip: Sort by shortest response using the drop-down menu to review possible incomplete responses from students like “...” or “I don’t know.”

Pin good responses

For response-board questions, you can also showcase good answers by pinning them. Click the pin icon beside the post(s) you want to spotlight.

Pinned responses will appear at the top of the list that students see after they submit their own answer. Plus, students with pinned responses receive a notification letting them know you’ve spotlighted their work!

How students view your feedback

When you unpost, comment on, or pin student work, the student will receive a notification in the upper-right corner of their webtext.

Open Notifications panel in the webtext showing a notification that reads "Response pinned - Page 2.1. Your response stood out!"

Students also receive emails when they have new notifications.
