Ableton Live
Open up your Ableton Live project
Live will automatically run a scan for new plug-ins. If it doesn’t, see below on how to manually re-scan
Go to Categories > Plug-ins
Load the OCTANE plug-in by double-clicking it or by dragging it onto a new MIDI track in your Live session.
For PC, you can find OCTANE in the ‘VST’ section. If you’re on a Mac, you can find the .au version of OCTANE in the Audio Units > SoundWare, Inc. section.
This is all you’ll need in order to get set up with OCTANE in Live!
Troubleshooting
If you’re unable to find OCTANE in Live after following the steps above, it may be the case that you need to change some settings.
Open up the Options > Preferences > File Folder window, and make sure “Use Audio Units” (Mac only) and “Use VST Plugin-In System Folders” (Mac and PC) are turned on.
Once you’ve done this, please run a re-scan by following these steps:
Click Options
Open ‘Preferences’
In the Preferences window, click on “File Folder” then click “Rescan”.
Once the scan is complete, please follow the steps for loading the plug-in and you should be all set!
Bitwig
Open up your Bitwig project
In the browser on the right-hand side, locate “OCTANE” in your Devices list.
Double-click OCTANE to open it.
Double-clicking OCTANE will automatically create a track for the device if not currently selected.
Cubase
Open up your Cubase project
Go to Project > Add Track > Instrument (Right-Hand Click)
In the Instruments list, navigate down to ‘Synth’, locate ‘OCTANE’ and click ‘Add Track’.
FL Studio
Open up your FL Studio project
Go to Plugin database on the left-hand sidebar
Go to ‘Installed’
Go to ‘Generators’
Go to VST3 or AudioUnit (Mac only)
Drag OCTANE [64bit] onto an empty channel
GarageBand
Open up your GarageBand project
Go to ‘Track’ from the GarageBand menu and select ‘New Track’ or click (+) on the left-hand side.
Pick the ‘Software Instrument’ option on the left-hand side and click ‘Create’
Turn on the Smart Controls button to open the Smart Controls window at the bottom of GarageBand if it is not already open
In the ‘Plug-ins’ section of the Smart Controls window click on the dropdown menu. GarageBand automatically has the * Classic Electric Piano selected by default
Navigate to AU Instruments > SoundWare, Inc. > OCTANE and click on ‘Stereo’ to load OCTANE
Logic
Open up your Logic project
Create a new Software Instrument track (Opt+CMD+S)
Locate the instrument slot on the new channel strip
Click the instrument slot then navigate down to AU Instruments > SoundWare, Inc. > OCTANE
Click on OCTANE to open the instrument
Maschine
Open up your Maschine project.
In the left-hand side Sound section, click (+) under 'Sound'.
Scroll down past the factory Instruments to the ‘SoundWare, Inc.’ section and select OCTANE (AU or VST).
Double-click on the icon labeled ‘OCTANE’ or click the arrow right next to 'Sound'.
Reaper
Install the VST Plugin: Ensure the VST plugin is installed on your computer in the standard plugin directory.
Open Reaper Preferences:
Launch Reaper and navigate to
Options
>Preferences
.
Set VST Plugin Path:
In Preferences, select
VST
underPlug-ins
.Click
Add...
and choose the folder with your VST plugins. ClickOK
.
Scan for Plugins:
Still in VST settings, click
Re-scan
to detect new plugins.Optionally, select
Clear cache/re-scan
for a thorough scan.
Insert Plugin on Track:
Create a new track (
Track
>Insert new track
orCtrl+T
).Click the track’s
FX
button.Browse or search for your VST plugin in the FX browser under "VST".
Double-click or drag the plugin onto the track.
Adjust Plugin Settings:
Customize the plugin's parameters through its interface.
Save Your Project: Save the Reaper project to preserve settings and plugin configurations.
Reason
Open up your Reason project
In the left-hand side Browser section, select Instruments
Scroll down past the factory Instruments to the ‘SoundWare, Inc.’ section. Note: You can also type ‘OCTANE’ in the search bar to be directed to the OCTANE VST
Double-click on the ‘VST Plugin’ icon labeled with ‘OCTANE’ or drag it into an available rack space to the right-hand side of the Browser
Studio One 4
Open up your new Studio One 4 project
In the browser on the right-hand side, locate “OCTANE” under SoundWare, Inc. in your Instruments list
Double-click OCTANE and drag the plugin to the left corner
