How to Connect Your Zap

Updated over a week ago

If you're looking to connect your Zap to your energy meter, you've come to the right place! In this article, we'll walk you through the steps to successfully connect your Zap to your energy meter and start sending data to the Sourceful Network.

Step 1: Enable P1 Port Data on Your Energy Meter

Before you can connect your Zap to your energy meter, you'll need to make sure that the P1 port data is enabled. This is usually done through your energy meter provider. If you're unsure how to do this, reach out to your provider for assistance.

Step 2: Connect Your Zap to the P1 Port

Once you've confirmed that the P1 port data is enabled, it's time to connect your Zap to the energy meter. Make sure you are using the P1 input port on the Zap, which is located on the same side as the USB C port.

Step 3: Check the Zap's LED Lights

After connecting your Zap to the P1 port, you should see the Zap Power LED (green) and the Status LED (blue) start to shine. Note that the Status LED is located near the button on the opposite side from the Status LED.

Step 4: Verify Data Transfer

To ensure that your Zap is receiving data from your meter, check the Data LED. This LED will blink when data is being transferred. If you do not see any blinking within a minute (usually in 10 second intervals), it means that your meter is not sending data to your Zap. In this case, double check that the meter P1 port is enabled.

Step 5: Start Sending Data to the Sourceful Network

Congratulations, you now have a steady flow of data from your energy meter to your Zap! The next step is to pair your Zap with the Sourceful Energy App and complete the onboarding process. Simply follow the steps in the app to successfully onboard your Zap. Once the onboarding process is complete, your Zap will close down Bluetooth and start in WiFi mode, sending data directly to the Sourceful Network.
